2018 Senior Scholarship Awarded
The 2018 GICB Senior Scholarship recipient is Meghan Johnson, a multi-instrumentalist who plays both french horn and trumpet. Meghan has been a faithful member of the GICB since the 8th grade, having never missed a rehearsal or performance during her 5 years with the band. She began band as a student at Glynn Middle School where she received the Outstanding Bandmember Award and continued playing through high school at Glynn Academy where she is now a section leader in the marching band, wind ensemble, and jazz band. In addition to the GICB, Meghan is also a member of the Coastal Brass Choir and the Golden Isles Youth Orchestra outside of school. She has also been a member of several honor groups including the John Philip Sousa Honor Band in 2012 and the GMEA All-District Honor Band in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017.
After graduation, Meghan plans to attend college and major in veterinary science to one day become a traveling vet that will help animals all over the world. She promises to take her horn and trumpet with her in her travels and plans to continue playing music wherever and whenever she can.
